Right in front of Puerto Vallarta malecon is -for example- Playa Dorada. To the south of the city, you’ll find Mismaloya and Boca de Tomatlan. Mismaloya offers a scenario full with fine sand and regular waves with an intense green color in the sea; perfect for diving and parachuting. Boca de Tomatlán is the place where the lagoon water meets seawater (especially on rainy season), creating a beautiful view in front of the tourists’ eyes. Further north, in the state of Nayarit, there are Bucerias, Sayulita and San Pancho offering their space for water activities such as diving, surfing and kayaking. It is the most visited and iconic place in Puerto Vallarta. It borders the ocean and gives you endless experiences! Like walk along the shore, delight the sunset, sightseeing, enjoy street artists’ shows and taste part of the typical food at mobile stands. You’ll see an open theatre where there are performances and music shows at different hours of the day. At the malecon you also can find a lot of shops! 3. Romantic Zone
Also known as “Old town” (“Viejo Vallarta”); the romantic zone is one of the most active areas in all the city. It is ubicated on the city south, going across the Cuale River either through the second section of the Malecon or through the old town cobblestone streets, and it feels more like being in a smaller Mexican town. The streets are narrower and are full with little shops, restaurants and cafes everywhere. A few steps from the romantic zone, you can reach “Los Muertos” pier, perfect to take pictures, it offers access to boats and water taxis to go to nearby beaches or just to enjoy water related activities. It is a district that -without doubt- will give you a lot of choices during your vacation in Puerto Vallarta.
4. Mirador de La Cruz
To get there, you’ll have to walk from 20 to 40 minutes with direction towards the mountains by the Abasolo Street. Walking is totally worth it!, because you’ll enjoy an unique sightseeing, specially at the sunset in your vacation in Puerto Vallarta. We suggest eat well before going, or bring an snack and water as there are no stores at the hill.
5. Mercado Municipal
Puerto Vallarta town, right on the shore of the Cuale River, there is the Municipal Market. With more than 30 years of existence and 159 locals distributed in 2 levels, you’ll find a big variety of flavors and dishes; the favorites are fried onions, mole, “chiles rellenos” (chilli pepper filled with cheese and meat) and of course seafood. And to the delight you can drink fresh water made with seasonal fruits, the local people called them “agua fresca”.
