The romantic zone is located on the south of PuertoVallarta city, passing the river Cuale. It is one of the most popular, beautiful and busy areas. It is also known by locals as Viejo Vallarta, because this area is where the first population settled, and until only 60 years ago life was concentrated in this area.
The romantic zone is known by its tradicitional architectural, wich is the style of old Vallarta; ceilings decorated with tile and white walls in the buildings. When walking between streets, it feels as if you were in a typical Mexican town, the streets are narrow, there is music, places to dance and lots of good food to eat. However, there are also modern constructions that even are using bright colors in their walls.
You’ll find the Lázaro Cárdenas park (or azulejos park), the Muertos pier and beach, and dozens of local businesses, such as souvenir shops, convenience stores, clothing stores, restaurants and cafes.
Festivals and other events are organized periodically in the Lázaro Cárdenas park; it is a place very loved by tourists. While at Los Muertos pier, you can rent a boat to go to the town of Yelapa and other nearby beaches.
