An escape to Las Animas beach: paradise near Friendly Vallarta
Las Animas is a beach that we highly recommend visiting if you are in Puerto Vallarta;its crystal clear water, its fine white sand, its vegetation, its gastronomy, its people and its activities as a whole, are a paradise that you should not miss.
. Las Animas beach is a place with calm tide, perfect for taking pictures, snorkeling, paddle boarding or just swimming quietly. If you like more lively activities, there are several businesses that offer parachute and horse riding. In winter season humpback whales and dolphins approach the coast to enjoy the warm waters.
Las Animas is located south of Puerto Vallarta, approximately 50 minutes from the downtown area of the city. You can reach the Animas by sea or land.
The pangas are water taxis that take you from the pier Los Peines (Marina Vallarta), los Muertos (Romantic Zone) or Boca de Tomatlan (town closest to Las Animas). The rates are very similar between pangas, what actually defines the cost is from where it is taken; so we recommend going to this beach as a group to divide the rate.
On the other hand, if you prefer to go with your partner or in a small group it is better to arrive by road to Boca de Tomatlan and from there walk to the beach or take the water taxi, whose rate is less than if you take it in Los Muertos or Los Peines pier. There are some pangas that offer stopping at the famous arches of Puerto Vallarta, where you can dive and take a souvenir photo.
To get to Las Animas by land, either by truck or private car, take the coastal road to Barra de Navidad from the romantic zone of Puerto Vallarta. The truck is approached in Basilio Badillo street, crossing with Constitution Street in Olas Altas; remember to ask the driver bus to take you down in Boca de Tomatlan. Once you arrive at this fishing village, you can walk along the path that leads to Colomitos beach and, from there, continue your journey to Las Animas. The whole path is marked, do not worry.
From a distance you can easily appreciate the beauty that so characterizes Las Animas beach, and when you disembark at the pier you will be warmly received by its people; who invite you to eat at one of the many ramadas. The ramadas are beach restaurants whose specialty is the preparation of dishes with fresh seafood. These dishes, accompanied with a refreshing drink, are excellent after making this journey.
In this way you can spend a day on Las Animas beach: resting, eating and enjoying the tropical view.
